For ASD

Local and National Support & Resources:

  • Kent Autistic Trust                             Offers information and support for autism diagnosis and the local area. 

  • NHS | Kent Community Health:            Provides adult autism triage and keyworker services, as well as support for referrals. 

  • Advocacy for all:                                       Offers online and in-person support, and can be referred to by yourself or a GP, before or after a diagnosis. You can contact them at 03453 101 812 or via email at Referrals@advocacyforall.org.uk

  • National Autistic Society (NAS):            Provides valuable support and can be contacted through their helpline on 0845 070 4004 (Monday to Friday 10.00 am to 4.00 pm) or via their website. 

  • Your local council: They offer various levels of support and financial benefits based on individual circumstances. They may offer a Care Act Assessment 

  • Colleges and universities: Seek assistance from student support services. 

  • Work: Discuss your needs with your manager and HR.  You can get a letter following a confirmed diagnosis suggesting reasonable adjustments are made.

  • Diagnostic and Assessment Services: The National Autistic Society offers diagnostic services for children, young people, and adults, and can also provide referrals to trusted partners.  

Community Support

In Tunbridge Wells, individuals experiencing a mental health crisis can access immediate support through the Kent and Medway Mental Health Crisis Line (111, option 2).

  • The Tunbridge Wells Safe Haven provide drop in from 6pm to 11pm daily. They offers emotional support, information, and assistance in creating staying well and crisis plans. 

  • Release the Pressure Helpline: A free, confidential, 24-hour helpline for those aged 16 and over in Kent and Medway, accessible by calling 0800 107 0160. 

  • Shout: A free, confidential 24/7 text support service. Text "SHOUT" to 85258. 

  • Papyrus UK: Provides confidential support and advice to young people and those concerned about a young person struggling with suicidal thoughts. 

  • The Salvation Army: Offers emotional, spiritual, and practical support, including referrals to foodbanks and other groups. 

  • Local authorities: Tunbridge Wells Borough Council provides information on various services, including the Community Safety Unit. 

  • Citizen Advice Bureau: Offers support for those experiencing or at risk of homelessness. 

  • The Solace Café: A café providing a space for mental health support.

For ADHD

NHS Support:

  • GP Referral:                                                  If you suspect you have ADHD or its symptoms are impacting your life, start by making an appointment with your GP. 

  • Assessment and Diagnosis:

    Your GP may refer you by "Right to Choose" to our service for a full ADHD assessment. We will request you complete an informant and personal questionnaire as well as ASRS before the interview and to come prepared.

  • Treatment Options:

    If diagnosed, treatments may include medication, psychosocial interventions, and peer support groups. 

  • Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust:

    Offers adult ADHD services with specific contact information for referrals and general inquiries. 

  • Kent Community Health:

    Provides information and support services for ADHD and other neurodevelopmental conditions. 

Specialized Support:

  • ADHD Foundation:

    Offers information, support, and peer support for individuals with ADHD, as well as for parents and caregivers. 

  • ADHD UK:

    Provides information, self-help resources, and a platform to find ADHD strategies, products, and ideas. 

  • ADHD Adult UK:

    Offers information and peer support for adults with ADHD and their families.  

  • Life Coaching and ADHD Coaches:

    Some individuals find it helpful to work with a life coach or ADHD coach to improve executive function skills. 

Important Considerations:​

  • Co-occurring conditions:

    ADHD can sometimes be accompanied by other conditions like anxiety, depression, or learning difficulties, which may also need to be addressed. 

  • Crisis Services:

    If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, contact 111 option 2 or speak to your GP

  • Self-help strategies:

    There are various strategies for managing ADHD symptoms, such as breaking down tasks, taking frequent breaks, and implementing a 24-hour rule for making decisions. 

For Substance Use

Change Grow Live (CGL)  has a centre in Tunbridge wells and Maidstone. They alone have admission rights to the Kent rehab service Bridge House
